

Preserving the Vermilion
The mission of the Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association Inc. is to create awareness of our natural environment by providing education and outreach to the general community about ways to conserve, protect and enjoy the Bayou Vermilion Watershed.
The Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association (BVPA) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt non-profit conservation organization based in Lafayette, Louisiana.
What do we do?
The Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association (BVPA) is devoted to the south Louisiana waterway central to many of our lives. The BVPA hosts numerous events throughout the year to educate, learn, serve, recreate, and stay connected with our favorite bayou. Since its inception in 2013, the BVPA has been honored to serve our community and watershed for over a decade!

River Symposium
BVPA’s Annual River Symposium is held annually, bringing presenters, panels, and education on our watershed. Lunch is provided!
The next River Symposium will be held at the LITE Center on May 9, 2025.

State of the River
Join us for free dinner, drinks, and discussions about current projects & challenges in the Teche-Vermilion Watershed!
The next State of the River will be held at the Vermilionville in September 2025.

History
Jan and Charles Wyatt
Jan and Charles Wyatt, with support of the Lafayette Garden Club and other community members, founded Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2013. Thanks to the Wyatt's leadership, we have been fulfilling BVPA's mission for over a decade.
